Social Harmony and Development Organization, SHADO is a non-profit civil society organization established in year 1999 for the promotion of social harmony, peace, love and justice and for the development of the marginalized communities living in Sialkot. The capacity building of SHADO’s staff was done by Chrisitan Study Center, Rawalpindi and since then the staff is working diligently for the noble cause. The Board of Social Harmony and Development Organization consist of educated and talented members who hold a heavy heart for the development and welfare of the poor community.
The target groups also have a proper representation in the Board of Director of SHADO. Members actively participate in the planning of programs of the organization and provide valuable suggestions and ideas to enhance the work of SHADO so that the process of development may be strengthened and community members may improve their status. Since 1999, we have worked for creating awareness about the need of Peace Building, Social Harmony, Justice and Human Rights. We have also addressed many other problems and issues that our society is facing.
To date, SHADO has organized many programs for the welfare and development of poor of the poorest and needy communities. These programs include, Social Harmony and Peace Building Program, Women Rights Awareness Training Program, Development Theater Program, Rehabilitation of Disabled Children Program, Free Health Care Program. Income Generating Program for women. SHADO also holds the distinction of conducting international workshop in Sialkot which was based on UN Study on “Status of women from the view point of religions and traditions by “Abdelfattah Amor, Former UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion and Belief”. The workshop was largely attended by local, national and international delegates and members of UN NGO Committee especially participated in the workshop. SHADO also carried out Earthquake Relief Program in the northern areas of Pakistan for the victims. SHADO provided support to about 300 families.
A large number of community members have been benefited by the programs of SHADO and this is not the end, SHADO is striving hard to bring positive change in our society. SHADO plans to extend its running programs and also aims to start new programs for the betterment and Development.
